ADMINISTRATION
BULLETIN TEAM
To photocopy and fold the weekly bulletin.
Commitment: one morning per week.
COMPUTER CONSULTANT
To provide computer assistance as needed.
Commitment: as needed.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
To oversee the Parish finances and make recommendations to Parish Council and to prepare the annual budget for presentation to Parish Council and the community.
Commitment: one meeting per month.
OFFICE HELP
To assist the parish coordinator with various tasks; photocopying, marriage documents, post-office runs, registers, maintenance, etc.
Commitment: as needed.
PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
To work with the pastor to ensure the parish is working effectively.
Commitment: Meet first Wed. evening of every month. Participate on various council sub-committees.
WEB SITE COORDINATORS
To update and maintain the web site for Saanich Peninsula Parish.
Commitment: Update website weekly or as required
CREATIVE ENVIRONMENT / MAINTENANCE
ART WORK / CALLIGRAPHY
To provide calligraphy on special certificates. To provide banners or decoration for special occasions.
Commitment: on call.
CEMETERY MAINTENANCE
To measure and mark plots. Arrange clean-up work parties and general maintenance of cemetery.
Commitment: As needed, approx. 2 hours monthly.
FLOWER ARRANGING
To beautify the worship space in our churches.
Commitment: Weekly and as special occasions demand.
GARDENING
To maintain the lawns and the flower gardens around the churches.
Commitment: Seasonal.
MAINTENANCE
To provide professional skills or consultation in various areas of maintenance and repairs. Such as a carpenter, electrician, plumber.
Commitment: As needed.
PHOTOGRAPHY
To take photographs at significant parish functions.
Commitment: as dictated by the event.
SOUND CONSULTANT
To ensure that the sound system is maintained and operating effectively.
Commitment: as needed.
INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL JUSTICE
DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE
To raise awareness of issues in development and undertake fundraising for developing countries.
Commitment: Social gatherings with the Victoria group Monthly meetings.
EAST INDIAN JESUIT SUPPORT GROUP
To support with our prayers and financial donations the work of the Jesuits in India.

To enter into solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Eritrea (Horn of Africa) through prayer, friendship and financial support.

EAST TIMOR AND NIAS , INDONESIA
To assist our brothers and sisters in East Timor and Nias, Indonesia who have been devastated by the tsunami by offering our prayers and financial support.

ALTAR SERVERS / ACOLYTE (CANDLE BEARERS)
To assist the priest throughout Eucharistic celebrations. Adults and children (10 and over).
Commitment: Serve at 1 celebration per month.
EDUCATION & WORSHIP TEAM (a.k.a. Liturgy Committee)
To learn about liturgy and to prepare our liturgical celebrations.
Commitment: One meeting per month.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
To minister the Eucharist or a blessing at all parish Eucharistic celebrations.
Commitment: Serve at 1 Eucharist per month.
GREETERS
To welcome people at the door before Mass and distribute bulletins.
Commitment: one service per month.
LAY PRESIDERS
To preside during Liturgy of the Word. Training provided.
Commitment: Once per month – weekday or as needed.
LECTORS
To proclaim the Word of God by reading scripture at the Liturgy.
Commitment: One Liturgy per month.

To provide praise through music during liturgy.

To prepare the altar and Eucharistic gifts prior to each Eucharistic celebration.
Commitment: One mass per month.

To clean and maintain the altar linens and vestments.

MINISTERS OF WELCOME
Interested parishioners with "people" skills are invited to join our team of Ministers of Welcome. Just before the opening hymn, as part of our gathering rite, a Minister of Welcome, makes formal introductions; welcomes visitors and new parishioners; invites or makes announcements as requested and enables the assembly's song with the title and page information about our gathering hymn.
Commitment: Normally, a team member is scheduled to facilitate the welcome one Sunday a month
OUTREACH
ANAWIM AUNTS
To provide support and useful care items for people at Anawim House.
Commitment: one Sunday per month
ASSOCIATION OF PENINSULA CHRISTIAN CHURCHES
To coordinate ecumenical services on the peninsula.
Commitment: as needed
BEREAVEMENT TEAMS
To guide and assist families as they prepare a funeral celebration. Members visit the family before the funeral.
Commitment: as required by family.
TRANSPORTATION MINISTRY
To coordinate transportation for those parishioners who require transportation to attend Mass.
Commitment: Once per month.
VISITORS TO HOSPITAL
To bring communion to hospitalized parishioners and to visit those who want visitors.
Commitment: Visit in 2 person team. One Wednesday per month. Orientation provided.
VISITORS TO NURSING HOMES /
VISITORS TO SICK AT HOME
To take Communion to parishioners who are unable to attend Mass and visit socially with these parishioners.
Commitment: 3 hours per month – one visit per month – Wed. or Thurs. morning.

CATHOLIC WOMEN’S AUXILIARY
A group of parish women committed to supporting one another and the local community.
Commitment: Members meet first Tues. of month 1:30 - 4:00pm
CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE
A National women’s organization that responds to the spiritual and social needs of its members and the larger community.
Commitment: Members meet one afternoon per month.
COFFEE FELLOWSHIP (AFTER MASS)
To provide a forum after mass for the members of congregation to socialize and also make visitors and new parishioners welcome. Prepare coffee and juice for this social.
Commitment: One month - (4 Sundays) ½ hr. before mass, ½ hr. cleanup after fellowship.
FRIENDLY HOURS
To prepare and serve lunch for those who need food, friendship or support. Every Tues & Thurs. (closed Summer, Christmas, Easter wk.)
Commitment: 3 hours once a month - Tues. or Thurs. on rotation basis.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
A fraternal organization of Catholic men who service the church, community, council & country.
Commitment: One evening meeting per month. 3 hrs.
LIBRARY
To obtain, catalogue, and maintain the books in our library.
Commitment: as needed.
SOCIAL COMMITTEE
To coordinate social activities in the parish.
Commitment: As needed.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
A charitable organization committed to serve those in need - by providing food, housing, clothing and support.
Commitment: Meet monthly.
TAIJI QIGONG
Members practice reflection, stillness, and the movements of Taiji Qigong, in order to encourage the harmonious flow of chi.
Commitment: Groups meet Wed. 10 am or Thurs 6 pm for 1 hr. at St. Elizabeth’s Church.
VOICE OF THE FAITHFUL
An organization to encourage active participation in the governance of the Catholic Church.
Commitment: One meeting per month.
YOUTH MINISTRY
To encourage and assist the youth of our parish. To participate in diocesan youth activities.
Commitment: As needed.
SPIRITUAL GROWTH
ALPHA
To organize this basic course on Christianity.
Commitment: 11 weekly session, 2 ½ hrs. including communal dinner.
BAPTISM PREPARATION TEAM (INFANTS)
To assist families requesting infant Baptism and to welcome the newborn to our Christian Community. To visit with the parents to prepare and discuss the signs, symbols and meaning of baptism.
Commitment: Team members spend 1 ½ hrs. preparation visit with each family.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY
To interpret the Gospel at the children’s level - through song, art, games.
Commitment: Once per month at 10:30 mass.
CHILDREN’S RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
To support families in teaching their children about spirituality, God and their role in the Christian Community. See Religious Education and Sacramental Preparation of Children for more information.
Commitment: Catechists - Wed. 6 - 7pm. and home preparation.
MARRIAGE BLESSINGS
To recognize through a special blessing those couple whose marriage anniversary falls during the month.
Commitment: Last Sunday of every month.
MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT
To inform the parish and help organize upcoming marriage enrichment weekends.
Commitment: as needed.
PRAYER GROUP
To gather for prayer and songs of praise and petition.
Meets at St. Elizabeth’s Thursday evenings 7:30 - 9 pm

NEW BEGINNINGS
R.C.I.A. for returning Catholics, those learning
more about their faith and those newly exploring
the Catholic faith.
Wednesdays, we meet at St.

R.C.I.A. (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS)
The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process that prepares a person to be a member of the Church. The process has its purpose the creation of Church.
Lived and celebrated faithfully, the process not only add members to the Church, but also clearly affirms who the Church is.
SCRIPTURE STUDY
To lead or organize interested parishioners in studying scripture.
